what do i do when the laptop says start bb in usb mode and it already is?

I am new to tethering, i've downloaded the software on my laptop, downloaded the app onto my bb 8350, but it seems my laptop is not going beyond "start blackberry in usb mode". usb cable is plugged in. any advice?

what kind of laptop OS do you have? Windows or Mac? What did you downloaded exactly?

Windows XP, but all is fine now. The BB desktop wasn't seeing my Blackberry so i went on the internet and let my computer find the correct driver for it. thank you all the same.
