I'm not sure if this is the right place for this suggestion but how about a voip program from your company. I think the first company to release a true (strickly data) voip service for blackberries would have great success and a large subsription base. I (and many people I know) would be willing to purchase a service like this and it would supply the developer with a great source of steady monthly income. I know some older blackberries might not have the processor speed for this but any newer blackberry should be able to handle it. Just my 2 cents (for what its worth). Sorry to the admin if this is not applicable to this forum. Thanks MIKE
VoipBerry!!
Google voice is not actually a pure voip over data service but a hybrid call-back service that uses your cell minutes to make a call. There isn't a voip service available for a Blackberry that is connected through data rather than using you regular voice minutes on you cell plan to complete a call.
That would be banging!!! I would gladly pay you tomorrow for a VOIP app today.
I would most certainly buy a true Voip solution for my Blackberry! GoogleVoice is nice and all, but it doesn't help me when I am abroad (which is most of the time)
It's not a pure VOIP solution because there is no unlimited international long distance, but Rogers Wireless in Canada offers a BlackBerry voice service called "TalkSpot" (www.rogers.com/talkspot). It that allows you to use certain BlackBerrys as VOIP phones using UMA - the Pearl 8120/8220 the 8320 and 8900. Samsung and Nokia also have some UMA phones. A good quality high-speed internet connection is required.
I can connect to ANY wireless access point (anywhere). When WiFi connected, I am completely off the cell grid and have unlimited and toll free calling throughout Canada. I think T-Mobile offers it in the US ("Hotspot"). I don't know if other US carriers offer it.
UMA is great and I highly recommend it.
Technically don't all your calls go over data anyway? I mean "phone" is just a java application that runs on the Blackberry OS. And while your on the phone, u see the data arrows going back and forth. I could be wrong and please correct me if I am. Citing KB's, lol. So it should not be that hard to work out, but what do I know about it. Not much!!!

You mean, like google voice????
