Well using wifi to tether would be great because i know my phone picks up "hotspots" that i cant use on my laptop. is their any chance that you could add a connection type to it for Default, Direct, BES/MDS and "wifi"?

The possibility of a tether app that would make a blackberry a "mobile hotspot" without carrier charges (like the way tether works now) would be awesome!

This would be a great thing! My business partner has an Android based phone which he had hacked root and could turn his 3G My Touch into a wifi hotspot... why cant we do this on a blackberry yet? This to me (and I am probably not out on a limb here) would be the killer app for blackberry and should be the next natural progression of product development for this piece of software!

Software like that will even drive hardware sales if it works well, so do it Tether!
