tetherberry servers

I understand all the data to and from the blackberry go through the Tetherberry servers which must be a large amount of data and significant cost. How about releasing a personal version of the server software and make the tetherberry configurable for a IP address or URL.

I reallize that we would be limited buy our upload speed on our personal connection but i am seeing intermittent speeds and i can only assume it is from the tetherberry servers because my data card is always full speed. This would limit the amount of bandwidth Tetherberry would have to have and allow the end user to get reliable bandwidth. Ill take my 512kbs all the time over the intermittent speeds i am seeing. Im sure i could put it online at work and get multiple DS3's.

Please return feedback why if this idea in not possible.

Thanks

I will second this suggestion. This would ease data on tetherberry server. It would also allow everybody to have a private connection that could not be easily detected as tethering by our wireless company because all data would not go to the same place for all tetherberry users.

That was a point i left out, that providers would have a hard time blocking it unless they looked for a particular protocol. I think sooner than later the providers are going to block the Tetherberry servers and then the software becomes useless.

I've brought this to our business team's attention. We will make a decision on this as it's a very interesting proposition.

I also like this idea, I would be willing to host a tether berry server on my dedicated box also. This would be a great way to insure the quality of tetherberry.

very good idea. I would 100% setup such a server at home and use a dynamic dns to link my proxy home. Please come out with such. It would be a few clicks for the providers to block the tetherberry subnet range. Or what you could do is make the servers use a dynamic dns and redirect the traffic to different servers if one gets blocked.

This is most definitely a great idea.

I think that this would be a good plan also, especially for SMBs. It would allow them to "filter/proxy" the users connections via the corporate "tetherberry server".

It would also it would also be interesting if you could put limits on data transfers etc via this private server -- Pretty much assuring your users don't rack up massive wireless bills.

I would absolutely love to run this. If you need beta testers, count me in

yeah with a FiOS network at home, it would be easy to reroute it and get better speeds as well as less variation.

Is there any news on this? I'm very interested in having this ability and right now I'm holding off buying until I know for sure.

I am also interested, I'd like to be able to deal with the potential blocking of the TB servers as well as manage my own bandwidth.

some new news on this would be great...I would love to boost my speeds with tetherberry over the 30-50kbps I normally get.

Could someone from TetherBerry comment on this? Good news or bad it would be nice to know if it is going to happen.

Thanks

We definitely think it's a pretty cool idea. We're trying to focus our attention into some other issues at the moment.

Could you explain how if we released our server software, people would spam BBs?
