Sorry if this is ignorant, I am trying to use Tether with a PC without wireless card. I get a "network cable is not connected" message. Will this even work?
Tether work with a PC without wireless card?
No I do not.
I get a display in lower right task bar flashing from a red "X" to the four bars (unhighlighted) and it says no connection.
On your BlackBerry I need you to go into the Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> highlight Tether in this list and hit the BlackBerry key then select "Delete". Remove the battery from your BlackBerry for one minute then place battery back into device and let boot. When the phone gets finished rebooting I need you to go to the following address in the BlackBerry web browser:
http://tether.com/t/tether.jad
On your PC I need you to uninstall Tether, reboot the PC, and download the Tether desktop PC software from the following link:
http://tether.com/t/setupdrv.exe
Right click the setupdrv.exe file and choose "Run as administrator" to give the needed rights for Tether to install properly.
Disable the wifi on your PC if equipped.
Once the software finishes installing and you have your wifi disabled you should now connect a USB cable from your PC with Tether installed to your BlackBerry with Tether installed, launch the PC Tether application by double-clicking the blue "t" Tether icon on your desktop and selecting USB from the dialog that your shown, now on the BlackBerry launch Tether by clicking the blue "t" Tether icon and selecting USB from the dialog that your shown. You should now be connected to the internet.
Still get a red "X" in lower right task bar, not connected. By the way I do NOT have a blue "t" anywhere on my Blackberry. It said successfully installed and appears under Options>Applications
Permissions are set to Allow, Custom, and Allow
All other instruction followed properly.
I think my trial may need to be extended as well. Thanks.

Yes Tether does not use any additional hardware.
Do you show a Tether network adapter in Windows?
