I did attempt to download a driver on the Samsung website and was advised that my phone did not support the download.. Please help, I don't want to lose my ability to tether.. Thanks for any help..

Are you receiving any error messages on the Android or PC?

Thanks so much for your prompt reply.

I receive the message "android device not found", with the tabs for help, try again and exit Tether. The status says "please make sure your Android is connected.. On the phone it says "waiting for a usb connection"

I have reloaded Tether on my PC and on my new Fasinate.. The USB debugging is enabled.

I did go to the "get help" tab and then to the Samsung home page to download the driver. I get the message that my phone does not support the driver I attempted to download.. My model # is SCH-1500. There is only one download listed for this model..

Thanks again...

You may need to contact Samsung for the drivers for your specific Android.

I contacted Samsung and they said there are no drivers available that will work with Windows 7, 64 bit...

Any other suggestions??

Ok.. I went to PDAnet.. I was able to download their trial on the Fascinate and was sucessful with their product..

I would rather stay with you as I think you have a better product.. SO, if I can tether with them, why can't I with you??? Is there a kink somewhere that you can fix???

I was able to successfully tether my Samsung Fascinate to a pc running windows 7 pro. I did have to download the driver from the samsung site (it was the one and only driver available) and then wait quite a while for the driver to be set up for the device when I connected the phone to the computer via usb.

Samsung says you don't need a USB driver for the Fascinate. And indeed for normal use you don't but Thether needs one. I found this link to the Fascinate driver http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201009/20100913233843234/Sa... and it works for me.

rgoubitz... Thanks for the info.. I tried that link and it tells me that it is not supported on my phone.. "download unsuccessful"..

I don't understand why it works on some Fascinates and not mine :(

Just to make sure, you are downloading the driver to your PC and not the phone, right?

boydsdaughter, I really think Tether doesn't have a handle on the Fascinate yet, they referred me to the regular Samsung download page and there is no driver for the Fascinate of course. I just tried the link I sent you again and it's good, regardless of your phone you should be able to download and install. "Download unsuccessful" has nothing to do with your phone. But here's an alternate link. http://www.verizon-cellphones.org/samsung-fascinate-usb-driver-download.... Download and install the file, plug in the phone (no Tether yet) let the driver install itself. Then run tether on the PC and Tether on the phone.

Hello,

After downloading the driver to your PC, you have to download the Tether software to your phone.

I need help here also. I have a Mac, and a Fascinate droid phone, running 2.2.1 I have both sides of the tether app installed (phone and Mac), but I can not get past the "Waiting for connection over USB" status on the phone. And the Mac client says "Could not locate the android device". I am running Mac 10.6.6. I send a question to the support email over a week ago - and no response.

Any help appreciated!

Hello,

Can you check to see if a Tether Network Adapter has been installed by clicking on the Apple icon, then System Preferences, then Network. Please advise if there is a Tether Network Adapter installed, as it will help me assist you with a resolution.

Hello,

Can I please have you open up the Terminal windows, and type in the following command:

ifconfig

Once you've done that could you please forward me the output that appears? With that information I can assist you in achieving a resolution.

Hello,

Thank you for the information provided. Based on the information you have provided me I would like you to open up the Terminal again, and this time I want you to input the following commands:

1. kextstat -l | grep Tether
2. /usr/sbin/networksetup -createnetworkservice Tether en3

Once you input these commands please check your Network Adapters and verify there is now a Tether adapter. If there is one please go ahead and test Tether, and verify an internet connection. If you have any other questions feel free to ask
