the reason why I bought Tether was to avoid using the standard APN connection and use BlackBerry data plan traffic only. Is this new version of Tether using only APN ? It doesn't work when removing the APN settings from the phone and the APN data is expensive.

How do I know if it's using the APN ? I tried to disable the APN settings in my blackberry and Tether was unable to connect in that way. Any way to determine which connection is using ?
What carrier are you using? If you're seeing "No Port Found" when disabling APN, then you will need APNs.
Hey there, this is exactly the problem I've had. Disabling the APN disables tether.
It's a shame that it has to use APN because, like Diego I was hoping to avoid using the APN altogether in preference for the unlimited BIS included in my rate plan.

Does telus use APN? all of the sudden I see APN in the log file?
I dont believe Telus requires APN unless they've launched new phones on the HSPA network. What type of phone are you using? Your log may also be stating that No APN settings are required.
i have a bb 9530 (storm 1). Works on the cdma network
Our product does use the APN on some carriers. The only thing we can do is offer a refund, if you would like. You would have to email support for that request though.
