Recently, my company has switch my device to Blackberry Torch on AT&T network. While have no issue running Tether latest version with Torch and OS6, however, I have noticed the significant decrease in data speed compare to my Storm2 on Verizon before. With 3G indicated full signal strength, I can only get 400K down and 80 up in average....... not sure if it is network related or an OS/Tether related. Certainly would like to hear other AT&T users, preferably with Torch users.
Tether on BB Torch with OS6 on AT&T
I am having the issues connecting my Mac to my BB Torch via bluetooth. This is the most annoying thing. It seemed to me working find with my other BB Storm running OS 5.
I am in Taiwan and using Taiwan Mobile and even updated my TCP IP setting to what I was had it on my BB Storm but still no luck.
Looking at my "Log," I see:
17:55:36 Trying UDP with User APN on local port 4825
17:55:36 Port 4801 in use, trying next
17:55:36 Trying UDP with User APN on local port 4827
17:55:36 Port 4803 in use, trying next
17:55.36 UDP failed to find an available port
17:55:46 No longer receiving packets
12:55:42 Tether is Registered
What is wrong... I am soo annoyed that I can not get this to connect. Please advise Patrick!

What carrier are you currently using?
What APN do you currently have set?
Speed seems improved a lot with recent version...
I am using a BB Torch 9800; os 6.0.195 and Tether crashes when using bluetooth on AT&T network. Tether used to work with BB OS 5... Tech support says wait for update from AT&T?
Yes an update from the carrier should resolve the issue.
To all.
which AT&T software update works with Bluetooth using Tether and BB torch 9800. I can only use the cable and not bluetooth. can anyone shed some light on this issue.
Hello,
Bluetooth only works with the Microsoft and WIDCOMM Bluetooth Stacks. Also, when using the WIDCOMM stack the phone must have discoverable set to YES in the Bluetooth options.
Toshiba and Bluesoleil stacks do not have an API available. You may be able to convert these dongles to use the Microsoft stack, but this is not guaranteed.
To all,
I have been getting this error for a couple of months now with my BB Torch 9800 v.6.00.246 on At&T.
I would like to use the bluetooth option and I can't. Whenever I do I get "Uncaught exception: Application Tether(294) is not responding;process terminated"
I can only use the USB cable to tether. Is there a fix for this. I only want to update my OS if this will fix the issue, other than that I don't need a OS update because it takes up more memory space on phone. I read that there was a update with the new OS but no one responded with what will fix the issue. Can someone shed some light on this for me.
Hello,
In order to use Bluetooth you have to have it paired with both your Blackberry device and your PC as well.

There are a number of reasons why Tether maybe running slow. The common reasons are you have a lot of background processes running on your phone which are consuming a lot of data or you have a lot of programs running on your computer trying to consume all of your bandwidth. Make sure you have bandwidth consuming applications turned off.
Another major factor in the speed is your phone model and the type of connection you are receiving. If you are not on a 3G phone your speeds will be much slower. Also, your speeds may vary if you are in largely populated area since more people will share the data connection at a given time.
Could you let me know what phone model you currently have? What type of network connection you get? What speeds are you currently seeing? Could you provide me with the signal strength on the BlackBerry by going to the following:
