I tried the trial android works great the first time on my old G1. Ordered G2 we'll it work with tether because some forums say G2 wont allow tethering?

I received my G2 yesterday and was disappointed to learn that T Mobile has locked out the "Tethering & portable hotspot" feature. Before I return the G2, is there any way to get this feature unlocked? This is a deal breaker for me. Thanks
