What are the settings needed on the Evo for the Tether to work? Im running XP and finally got the Evo to connect after downloading the winusb.dll file. Not getting any transmission after enabling debug etc.

Yes I did. The EVO is connected to my laptop, but sends only a few packets, and then appears to freeze, and the error message appears in the historical data area on my EVO' s tether app. It seems to be transmitting but very slowly.

Sorry Tether does not support Hotspot.
I am unsure of any application on how to make a Hotspot for free.

where do you download the winusb.dll file, I cannot get tether to connect on my HtC Evo, I had no problems when I had it on Blackberry

1 - Please uninstall Tether from the PC.
2- Download winusb.dll from the following webpage and save it to C:\Windows\System 32:

3- Reboot the PC.

thank you for your help, but I followed all instructions and got past the the winusb error message but still can't connect. It says a network cable is unplugged, and the android device software is not installed. I don't know what else to do. Can you help with this?

Tether has a known issue with HTC Sync installed on the PC. The workaround to resolve the issue it to remove HTC Sync.
Tether is currently looking into resolving this issue.

I am confused now, I am getting messages from tether saying my license is only valid for Blackberry, but I paid $50.00 for this license.

Yes the BlackBerry license is only valid for a BlackBerry.
A Android license will need to be purchased for the Android.

I have downloaded the trial but cannot g et it to work, it says android drived not installed, if it doesn't work by sat when I am taking a trip I will give up.

I am trying to install the software on my computer and I am getting the error message "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation". This is my own PC, so I am the administrator. All Windows updates are current. Please help. Here are my specs:

I had Tether on my Blackberry and loved it. I bought the license for the Android and have installed Tether on my Sprint HTC Evo and it says not connected my device DNS Server. I called Sprint and I was told that Tethering would not work on my phone. Has anyone gotten it to work on their Sprint phone?

Yes I have. Sprint is not going to tell you that it works because they want you to pay for the hot spot. Be sure that you have an unlimited access plan.

It is not connecting to my DNS Sever on my phone and I don't know what to do. It connects but I can't do anything. I know Sprint is going to tell me that however I was hoping that someone will be able to tell me here what I can do to be able to use Tether. Someone from Tether ought to be able to tell me what I need to do. I do have an unlimited plan but again I want to use Tether a one time fee vs a monthly fee.

I bought the license for Android Tether and installed on my Sprint HTC Evo and it does not connect my DNS server. I called Sprint and they told me that tethering would not work on my phone. I know that Sprint is going to tell me that, but I was hoping that someone here will be able to tell me what can I do to be able to use the tether. Moreover, these days I am having some problem with my laptop battery, it's standby has been reduced.

In regards to your laptop battery that may be a discussion with the manufacturer of your laptop. In regards to Tether, could you please tell me what your computer is exactly saying the error is? Also, with Tether running on your Android device can you press the Menu button and select "View Log". Could you tell me what the full text of the Tether log is please? With that information I can assist you in achieving a resolution.
Yes Tether is supported on the Sprint HTC Evo 4G.
