Slow speed

I just downloaded the product and it installed seamlessly using the instructions. I am only getting 2-300K (download) in the same location that I get 1.5Mb using VZ Access (Verizon's tethering option).

Does it have anything to do with accepting the "Default" option when TetherBerry connects?

I'm not sure why you're experiencing slower speeds. Some of our Verizon users report slower speeds and some report faster speeds. We tested it while we were in the US and we saw equal speeds.

I am an AT&T customer and just installed the trial version of Tether. It installed and connected easily but I am also experiencing VERY slow speeds. Using speedtest.net 3 times, I get the following speeds.

.08 down .1 up
.15 down .05 up
.07 down .08 up

I am in an AT&T 3G network and get acceptable 3G connectivity on my Blackberry Bold 9000.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello,

There are a number of reasons why Tether may be running slow. The most common reason is that you have a lot of background applications running on your wireless phone which are consuming a lot of data or you have a lot of programs running on your computer trying to consume all of your bandwidth. Try to make sure you have all bandwidth consuming applications turned off.

Another major factor in the speed is your phone model and connection type. If your Blackberry is a model that can use 3G speeds, and you are picking up Edge network speeds it does have a bit of effect as well. Also, your speeds may vary if you are in largely populated areas as there are more people who may use data, and the data connection is shared at a given time.

Could you let me know what OS version you currently have? What type of network connection are you getting? Could you provide me with the signal strength on the BlackBerry by going to the following:

Options -> Status

Hello,

Could you email help@tether.com for more troubleshooting assistance? Also, when you email Tether, could you please advise what type of Blackberry Curve you have, as well as your wireless carrier, and your PC type please.
