I seem to be having some speed issues when using tether and I'm wondering if there is anyway to tweak or adjust it? When using tether on my Curve 8330 on an EVDO Rev A network my internet on my laptop is very sluggish and often times out. If I do speed test, the best I have ever seen is 200kbit down and 20kbit up and its generally slower. I've tried both Bluetooth and via USB and get the same slow results.
If I do a speed test right on the blackberry itself, I'm able to get 2650kbit down and 80kbit up consistently.
During the speed test using Tether it detects that the nearest location is in Atlanta (even though I am in Canada). Is all traffic from tether being routed through a Tether server in the US? It would make sense if it was which is how they are able to make it look like it is coming from a web browser, however I wonder if this could be causing a speed issue. I also noticed latency up to 1100msec, and I know wireless/cell networks have high latency but I only see that when using the Tether application.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to speed this up?

There are a number of reasons why Tether maybe running slow. The common reasons are you have a lot of background processes running on your phone which are consuming a lot of data or you have a lot of programs running on your computer trying to consume all of your bandwidth. Make sure you have bandwidth consuming applications turned off.
Another major factor in the speed is your phone model and the type of connection you are receiving. If you are not on a 3G phone your speeds will be much slower. Also, your speeds may vary if you are in largely populated area since more people will share the data connection at a given time.
