Question about Tether and BDM

So, I'm thinking of getting Tether. I have a Verizon BB Curve 8530 running 5.0.0.886 (platform 4.2.0.397). Thing is, not only do I have a Mac, it runs Tiger (10.4.11, I think) and so I can't download BDM.

I was wondering if I could still use Tether (do you need BDM to have it?) and if so, how I'd connect.

If there's anything else I should be aware of please let me know.

Also, I would like to know if Tether even runs on Tiger. I haven't seen anything online. My computer does have Bluetooth, by the way.

Tether will work on the version of Mac you are currently using,

Tether does not work with BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac installed so no need for installing it.
