I'm having problems getting TetherBerry to work with a PPTP VPN. It will connect, go to authenticating username and password, and then timeout. Any ideas?

Which VPN client are you using?
I'm using the Microsoft PPTP Implementation(Create a connection in windows XP).

I am also having the same problem. I am conntecting to a watchguard firewall with pptp enabled. I am just using the standard windows vpn connection.
Does PPTP sit on top of TCP or UDP? If they don't, they probably will not work with the current implementation.
I've looked at the entry in Wikipedia, but it doesn't seem to say.
I see the same problem in my setup. Everything else is working fine (I am on tetherberry right now posting this comment).
I will do some more research into this and hopefully have a fix in the near future.
It probably won't happen immediately as we are working hard at getting everything ready for launch.

The latest version of Tether for your Blackberry should allow for PPTP VPN's to work. One thing that may help is to uninstall and reinstall Tether on your Blackberry. Could you try uninstalling the Tether Application by following these steps on your Blackberry device:
1) Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications
2) Highlight the Tether software
3) Press the Blackberry Menu button and select Delete
Once the Tether application has been uninstalled, could you install it again by opening this link through the default BlackBerry Browser:
