So I've downloaded this as a trail for now. I uninstalled Black Desktop Manager, installed tether on the Mac (running v10.6.3) and on the blackberry Curve.
When I start both apps they do not seem to connect to one another.
On the Mac I get:
"Tether is not running on the Blackberry"
And on the BB I get:
"Failed to find an available port".
If I go to system prefs on the Mac I can see there is a network device called Tether, but its not connected.
Any clues?
Many thanks in advance.
Gus

I am running Mac OS X 10.6.4 and have a Blackberry Bold 9700 running Blackberry OS v5.0.0.423 (Platform 5.1.0.116).
What I had to do to make Tether work is the following:
* On my Macbook Pro, I turned off Airport
* I started Tether on Blackberry and selected USB on the window that pops up
* I pressed the Menu button (the one with the Blackberry logo on it) and selected Register
* I entered in my registration code. Note that you MUST type in the -s
* I selected the Register button.
* A little window popped up and stated I had successfully registered Tether.
* On my Blackberry, I pressed the menu button (it has the Blackberry logo on it), selected Close, then selected Quit.
* On my Blackberry, I started Tether.
* On my Macbook Pro, I started Tether.
* The Mac and Blackberry versions of Tether "found" each other and it was working.
Then it stopped working and I haven't been able to get it to connect since.
UPDATE: Oddly, after I did a battery pull on my Blackberry, Tether has started working again.
