Same exact thing man, bugs the heck outta me. I have the storm 2, but everything worked fine until evertyhing went from tetherberry to "tether." The old tetherberry software still works on my old laptop with my storm 2 which is running the new tether app. Problem is, i have a new laptop and i would like to have the old "TetherBerry" software for my pc, that way i could at least use the usb for now. Any ideas on where to find the old software for download?
Not recieving any packets using windows vista 64 bit, and BB Tour. Help please tether as this is my primary internet connection.
FYI: The reboot issue is not the same issue that Storm and Tour users on OS 5.0 are having. We cant receive packets at all even after reboot.
There has not been a fix for weeks and we are all still patiently waiting.
Thanks.
Yep, that is the issue. When I connect USB or Bluetooth I see packets being sent and not received, but when I try sending a test email I get the error of not connecting to the SMTP server. I am on a VZW Tour and Hybrid OS 5.0.0.419/423.
Though I use regular internet connection at home I really need this at work in the field as it the only way I can use my laptop for work.
It would be nice if the original .jad file for TeatherBerry was available to see if that worked until a fix is done to the new version.
Hi Guys,
I may have figured it out...
I currently have it working on a 9530 with 5.0.0.328 OS over Bluetooth and seems to be running faster than it did on the 4.7.1.41 OS.
I need to do some more testing and make a couple changes and remove all my debug code, but hoping to issue an update later today for everyone to try out.
Will post again today when I've put the update live (unless I run into some more issues with it)
The update has been posted.
If you launch your Tether application on the BlackBerry it should say an update is available. This will update you to 1.1.0.1 which should solve the Bluetooth Sending no Receiving issue on Tours and Storms running 5.0 OS.
Installed update on phone (VZW Tour running OS 5 hybrid the same as original tetherberry) and reinstalled on PC running Win 7 x64. Now I can connect online and receive email thru Outlook and view websites without issue even worked with Bluetooth which I would not use much. However, I still cannot send email thru outlook. Mind you that there have been no changes to the computer and all was fine prior to updates of TetherBerry to Tether.
Can you contact your mail administrator to get a different outbound port to use to send mail than port 25, or configure your Outlook to send mail over a secure connection? That should solve your issue.
Tried two alternate ports and a secure connection to the smtp server and still no go for outgoing email. Incoming is no problem as is web browsing. Tested all with normal home connection to make sure they worked first which they did.
Edit: I had not even tried bluetooth but just did and nothing works for it. I do not use it as I usually plug in the cable so there is no battery drain when online. I have all the necessary drivers and made sure the connection are correct. Packets are showing as sending and receiveing but web pages do not load and email does not go in or out.
Does Outlook report identical errors when using port 25 and the alternative ports you've used?
For the Bluetooth issue, what kind of phone do you have?
Yes the same errors were reported on the other ports as well. Phone is a BB Tour frm Verizon.
Can you tell me who your mail provider is?
I have dedicated servers thru server intellect. All on Windows server 2008, SmarterMail for email and SQL server 2008 for DB backend.
The part that gets me is I did not have any issue before on the original version and only now since the upgrade.
I do appreciate your efforts and help in any case.
It's odd that using the alternative port is not working for you. It has for every other person I've mentioned this to. For example one user this morning simply switched to 587 and it worked for him.
Your mail servers would not be blocking the external IPs would they? If the mail servers are behind a router is proper port forwarding setup so that outside internet connections make it through the router?
It is strange. We do not have any ports blocked regarding email. We do have SMTP authentication set using a users login. I can try it again with one of my other accounts to see if it works. I will let you know what happens.
Well good news... I spoke with tech support where my server is and one small part had not been configured an opening in the firewall. Port 587 was setup and listening for requests but it was stopping at the firewall. They made the necessary change and now all is working via USB. I might get around to trying BT but I usually don't want to waste battery on internet connection time.
Thanks for the help.
Glad to hear it!
Sorry, just joining and reading through. Cannot receive with BT on my storm. where is the update posted
Awesome Shankinson just aswesome!!
I am going to try in about 30 min will report back with my findings!! :)
Blackberry Tour with 5.0 OS (Sprint)
Mac & PC w/ bluetooth.
Thanks!
Working on the xp system using bluetooth.
As a matter of fact, that's how this message is being posted - bluetooth/tour/xp.
Will check the Vista home premium later....
Thanks for working on this.
Thanks! This 1.1.0.1 update has fixed the Bluetooth problem on my 8830 World Edition.
The fix worked for me on my home machine running Vista. I will try on my work machine running XP tomorrow.
Thanks.
Doug
USB is now working for me. This was posted via a Tether-USB connection.

Yayyy fixed.. Good job guys.. received the update on my BB.. and voila.. BT works! Geniuses!! THANK YOU!!!
Storm 9530
Windows Vista 64-bit
OS v5.0.0.419
Shankinson is a genius!!! We are very lucky to have him....
Yes. Fix worked!!!!!
Couldn't say any more for such wonderful product from Tether!
Thanks!
I tried BT on my work machine this morning and all is well with it too.
Thanks.
Doug
More update, the average speed of BT connection is very good with BB 9530 and my MacBook Pro, I was able to achieve in average 650KB (Down) and 200KB (Up), only slightly reduced performance from USB connnection due to Bluetooth limitation.
Very happy with the product!
Now I am receiving packets, but having a problem with a DNS error when trying to connect to any web page. Any Ideas?
Can you try flushing your DNS:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=dns+flush+command&aq=0sx&...
I tried that and it still doesn't work. It does work using usb though. It shows internet access in my icon for my network, but will not load any pages.
What kind of phone are you using?
I am having the same problem DNS issues, everything is connected but pages not loading - flushing DNS did not work either, any suggestions? I am using USB without any problems (9530/OS 5.0.0.419)
Blackberry Tour running 5.0 (4.19)
Sometimes it shows access to the internet, other times it doesn't. Also, it will load part of a page once in a while. I forgot to tell you I was running win 7, i'm not sure if that has something to do with it.
Can anyone confirm that bluetooth works with a tour running 5.0 and windows 7 ?
The people with DNS issues. Can you try disabling then enabling your Tether Network Adapter and then try connecting to see if this helps at all?
Bluetooth and USB both working with the new version.
Phone: Storm 9530 (5.0.0.419) BES
Phone Tether: ver1.1.0.1
PC: Win 7x64
PC Tether: ver1.1.0.0
Blackberry Desktop Manager: 501_b049
Big note: I did have to uninstall an older version of Blackberry Desktop Manager. You need to have the most current version of Blackberry Desktop Manager (ver5.0.1) installed or install Tether from scratch so that the newest RIM drivers get installed with Tether. Once I had the newest version of Desktop Manager installed the Bluetooth connection started working perfectly.
Excellent job by the Tether programmers to finally bring us Bluetooth. Thank you!!!
I have tried disable and enable, not working still, it does seem to work for a split second when you first gain access, but then quits. What exactly is the DNS error? Is there something I need to configure in my computer network settings? I am using Verizon if that matters any.
Did you try the new windows installer? Version 1.1.0.1? http://www.tether.com/t/setup.exe
I just tried it, same problem. Cannot connect to dns.
Ok, after installing the new pc software, I disconnected my usb bluetooth adapter and rinstalled it, I then reinstalled my Tour to the bluetooth and it works fine now. WOO HOO!
I'm not sure if anything changed on your part, but it is working fine now with the bluetooth.
Thanks for all the support. It works fast.
My "not receiving packets after waking up from hibernate" problem is solved by versioin 1.1.0.1. But you have to install BOTh parts of the new version, the Blackberry .jad and the PC application.
I installed the new 1.1.0.1 Sat. worked great usb and BT
Storm 9530
OS 5
xp
now usb works no bluetooth any ideas
connects great no packets
do you run Desktop with tether or not
I'm having the same issue - USB works and has worked fine from the get go. BT has worked once for me -- I can't replicate the condition under which it worked with startup order of the software, connection, etc. I've rebooted and tried running only Tether, and I've also tried the DNS flush and disabling/enabling the adapter (as well as disabling the computer's wireless). I've also unistalled and reinstalled DM, my laptop's bluetooth software, and all Tether-related apps on bb and laptop.
My browser will either only go to Tether.com sites (indicative of a DNS issue?) extremely slowly (like 10-15 min for page to load) and not be able to look up other sites, or it will stall on the "connecting to..." to all sites (post DNS lookup) and either only partially load or never load the page.
It seems really quirky at this point, but when it worked it worked well and I was very happy. I hope they're still working on it =/

(I also have Windows7 Professional on this machine and it connected via USB. I'll try connecting via BT later.)
on 9520 v.320 firmware on vista
tried connect using usb & bt
status is connected
only packets sent
does nothing else.
a dud purchase?
please help :)
I was having the issue and it wasn't working for my Windows 7 pc. After reading that some users had the issue fixed after rebooting I decided to give it a try and it works.
