After downloading the new version of Tether, about every 30 minutes or so my
connection was lost and I see this error on my BB screen "Uncaught Exception:
ApplicationTether (134) is not responding; process terminated."
In which I try to restart tether from the phone and it shuts itself off at that
time. The only thing to bring it back is to batterypull the BB and try again,
which happens again and again. Need some help please.
New version, new problem
fixed it for a while, now it's back.
:\
What BlackBerry are you using? What is the BlackBerry OS revision on your device?
sprint blackberry curve 8330
4.5 os i believe
I'm having the same issue with the same phone and os version.
Same issue, same carrier and same phone.
I'm trying to figure out how to just downgrade back to the previous version. That is if it doesn't get fixed soon.
exact same thing here
my carrier is verizon
phone is curve 8330
how can i downgrade to previous version?
Instructions from Customer Support:
1) Click Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications
2) Highlight the Tether in the list of applications
3) Press the BlackBerry Menu button
4) Select Delete
5) Remove battery from your BlackBerry for one minute, replace battery and let device boot
Once the Tether application has been uninstalled and your device has rebooted, install Tether again by visiting the following link through the default BlackBerry Browser:
Tether for BlackBerry (version 1.1.0.4) = http://tether.com/t/backups/1.1.0.4/tether.jad
Thank you for posting the backup link.
I am not receiving packets on my PC when tethering. BB says it is running, PC says it is sending but nothing is received.
BB OS 4.5.0.186 on 8330 curve
Tether versions tried: 1.1.0.4, 1.1.0.6
All started when I upgraded to 6
Help!
I also have an 8330 with Verizon and OS v4.5.0.175 and am having the same issues. My errors come randomly, though.
Has anyone tried downgrading their BlackBerry OS?
Is everyone using an 8330 with BlackBerry OS 4.5.0.175?
Hey all,
I've got the exact same problem as the people above. Only difference is my 8330 is with Telus in Canada and am using OS 4.5.0.186.
I'm going to try downgrading using the info provided by tiggertiffin87. Tether 1.1.0.6 has never been as stable or as responsive as 1.1.0.4 was. I hope it's fixed it 1.1.0.7 :)
So far it's been working for me, using the older version. I guess I'll just wait til 1.1.0.7 comes out and see if this issue is fixed.
Yep, seems to be working fine here after a few hours of using the downgrade. Aside from the annoying prompt to upgrade every time I start Tether :P Not a big deal though, I'd rather have a minor annoyance and a working Tether than a broken Tether!
We recently pushed a silent update to 1.1.0.6, very minor fixes and removed some annoyances that some customers were complaining about.
Could you guys try updating to the latest .jad file at:
http://tether.com/download
If it still happens, can you let me know specifically at how many packets you are seeing it happen at? Also, are you connecting over USB or Bluetooth?
Sure, I'll update shortly. When Tether throws the error on my 8330, normally the app on my PC dies too, I might not be able to record the packet count when it happens. Does either the PC app or the phone app keep a log anywhere?
The phone keeps a log, but if it dies unexpectedly you won't be able to access it. We don't want to take up too much storage on your phone.
Crap! I do appreciate you not taking up much phone space though :) Actually, using the history on the PC app, I can probably get a fairly accurate packet count. I'll give it a go and get back to you.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am using Tether over USB cable.
Here's an update on how things are going over here. After installing 1.1.0.6 that had the silent update Patrick linked to 2 days ago, Tether was working. It was still a slight bit slower than 1.1.0.4 (subjective, no hard data to back that up), but it worked with no errors.
Today, 1.1.0.7 was released and Tether wanted to update so I let it and the Uncaught Exception error is back.
Using the history function of the Tether app on my PC, Tether had sent 392,663 packets and received 445,297 without error on the updated 1.1.0.6.
Since updating to 1.1.0.7, the error showed up after 25,138 sent and 31,520 received.
Don't know what it all means, but right now I'm back to 1.1.0.4. Patrick, if there's anything else ya want me to test, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Blackberry Curve 8330 on Verizon, OS 4.5.0.175, Tether 1.1.0.7, Tether on Mac 1.1.0.2, USB connection
Error message: Uncaught exception. Application Tether (179) is not responding; process terminated
Tether desktop on Mac quit at same time as the error occurred on 8330.
Google Mobile and AOL Instant Messenger were running. MilkSync is also installed but is set to sync every 2 hours so it's unlikely that it was syncing when the error was received.

Delete Tether from your BlackBerry, pull the battery, install Tether again by visiting the following link from the default BlackBerry browser:
