Hello,

Can I please have you open up the Terminal windows, and type in the following command:

ifconfig

Once you've done that could you please forward me the output that appears? With that information I can assist you in achieving a resolution.

Hello,

One thing that may assist you is to reinstall Tether on your Android device. Please follow the steps below:

1. On your Android click on Settings -> Applications, and place a check in the box for "Unknown sources", then click Development, and place a check in the box next to "USB debugging".

2.) On your Android click on Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> select Tether from this list and select "Uninstall".

After doing that can I have you download and install Tether by opening up a web browser on your Android device and going to the following website:

http://tether.com/a/tether.apk

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Also where do I go to check the network adapters?

I also have the same problem and none of the terminal fixes in this topic resolve it. I am running Lion and just installed Tether for the first time. I do not believe the fix jwells posted has anything to do with this issue.

Hopefully this gets resolved soon, I have a conference to go to this weekend and I definitely need Tether :(

jwells,

When I input the commands you list in Post #18, I get something rather different from Jeremy:

Orion:~ Daniel$ kextstat -l | grep Tether
119 0 0xffffff7f80791000 0x6000 0x6000 com.quark.driver.Tether64 (1.1.0d1) <37 5 4 3 1>
Orion:~ Daniel$ /usr/sbin/networksetup -createnetworkservice Tether en3
Tether is already a network service name.
** Error: The parameters were not valid.
Orion:~ Daniel$

So while I can't speak for Jeremy's situation specifically, it seems that there's clearly something wrong BEYOND the creation of a "Tether" network service. And although I am currently running Lion, the exact same problem was happening under Snow Leopard earlier last week... absolutely nothing has changed in that respect.

I've tried re-installing Tether on my laptop, but it doesn't help... unless PERHAPS I'm not completely un-installing Tether somehow, and there are hidden files that I could manually delete, beyond merely the application and preferences list. (So maybe if you could provide a complete list of EVERY tiny scrap of a file that Tether might have created, I could try rooting those out, just in case I've been missing something before re-installing.)

Beyond that, I just don't understand what the problem could be... but (even WITHOUT connecting my phone to the laptop) I can immediately see that there is a problem, because when I launch Tether it ALWAYS says "Status: Failed to locate the Network Adapter", whereas in the past it used to say something like "Status: Waiting for USB connection" or something like that.

Here is my "ifconfig" readout, in case it's helpful...

Orion:~ Daniel$ ifconfig

I am getting frustrated that I cannot use Tether with my Lion OS Macbook Pro. Are you prepared to refund if you do not get this fixed in a timely manner?

I would also like to know how to get a refund. I bought Tether and it didn't work so I posted in this topic, it's been almost two months now with no fix.

I'm getting the same unable to find network adapter on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard so it's not just the Lion users that are unhappy and looking for help!
