I'm still using the Tetherberry product, but I want to convert to Tether so I can use my BB Storm to tether via Bluetooth.

What are the steps I need to follow to do that?

Do I have to upgrade to Tether first? I am using a Bluetooth dongle since my old laptop does not have bluetooth built in.

On your BlackBerry I need you to go into the Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> highlight Tetherberry in this list and hit the BlackBerry key and select "Delete". Remove the battery from your BlackBerry for a minute and replace battery. When the phone gets finished rebooting I need you to go to the following address in the BlackBerry web browser:

http://tether.com/t/tether.jad

On your PC I need you to uninstall Tetherberry, reboot the PC, and install the Tether desktop PC software from the following link:

http://tether.com/t/setupdrv.exe

Then you will need to pair your BlackBerry to your PC.

There are instructions for pairing Bluetooth on the web, here is a good link with images showing the process:
http://www.rickysays.com/pair-bluetooth-device-with-computer

After you have successfully paired your devices, you should be able to launch Tether on your BlackBerry selecting Bluetooth from the dialog your shown, launch Tether on your BlackBerry selecting Bluetooth from the dialog your shown. On your BlackBerry you will be asked if you wan't to allow this connection, select yes/ok. Now you should be connected over Bluetooth and able to use the Internet.

Seems easy to do...there's one issue: I can't do a battery pull. It's complicated, but my battery door is broken/busted so it is glued onto the phone (I know, nothing but trouble). Can I simple turn the device off or do I have to do a real battery pull?

Let me know and I will proceed...and thanks for the simple directions and steps.

It's not absolutely necessary.

Ok, have the new version of Tether loaded. It work with USB. But with bluetooth I'm getting a socket error. On the PC, in the Tether interface, it says: Checking for WIDCOMM and then it says Socket error (10108)

Any thoughts?

Make sure in the Bluetooth settings of your blackberry you have it set to discoverable.

Same issue. I may have to buy a new USB dongle. I 'accidentally' removed the Bluetooth dongle software. I went on the net to reinstall it, it's IVT software for BlueSoliel. It works, the Tether software on the phone says I'm connected to the PC, but I'm still getting the socket error on the Tether software interface on the PC. Not sure what is going on at this point. Any ideas from this point?

I'm thinking if I bought a new dongle, maybe it will work with that better. Found one on ebay here:

Windows could have the drivers you need, try removing the incompatible BlueSoleil software then reboot your PC letting Windows install the generic Bluetooth drivers.

If this doesn't work you need to either try the WIDCOMM (Broadcom) drivers or get a compatible adapter like you said already.

I am not sure about that USB adapter you linked to, I did buy a $1.93 cent adapter from dealextreme (SKU 11866) that works with Tether. It is the one that has a small black half moon shape and is labeled being a class I long range Bluetooth 2.0 adapter.

also make sure the wi-fi interface is disabled on your PC while using tether with bluetooth.

Wow! Got it working on the Bluetooth! Amazing...I'm loving it. I had to go to this site to get a driver that worked:

http://www.bluetoothinstaller.com/

At first, my phone would not connect to the bluetooth dongle. Then I said, let me just try to use Tether. And Tether connected after a few seconds...I'm using the internet via my Blackberry via Bluetooth instead of USB!!! Thanks for your help...this will be a great aid to me!
