I'm using a BB Storm II 9520 on the 3 Network in Australia.
I'm working for the next 2mths in a roaming zone and I'm using Tether on my notebook so I can access the unlimited data option in my phone plan.
Even internet use via the Blackberry browser in a roaming zone is included. I was speaking to the Blackberry rep from Victoria just before I purchased this Handset and he suggested Tether as a solution for my internet usage on my notebook because Tether used the same APN as the blackberry browser. This tricks the network into thinking I'm using the BlackBerry browser to access th internet.
Unfortunately, after purchasing Tether I have noticed I'm being charged $0.50 p/Mb for everything I'm using, uploads and downloads.
Is there anyone else out there from Australia on 3 that has overcome this problem?
I think I have just done my $49.95 and will be up for the cost of a new modem with Optus or something to tide me over.

National Roaming charges with 3 Australia - i thought Tether was supposed to avoid them?

Tether does not go through BIS, at the moment. You may be required to use APN settings for some WAP connections, and some carriers charge for this.
Just to add a little extra info... Reading on the tether.com forums, just a little confused.
3 Customer Care tells me that my browsing is coming up as WAP browsing, not BIS.
BIS browsing in the blackberry browser is unlimited in roaming zones.
Does tether use BIS? Or does it just the same as using Desktop Manager ie roaming charges outside of 3's home network?
