after install the client on Mac, did you see the "Tetherberry" network interface been created?

If not, you may not have the proper rights in order to create the interface during the install.

I dont know to be honest, I wasnt paying attention ! Im going to delete the client and re-install and check I guess as some troubleshooting. I dont know what else to try..

I dont understand why I wouldnt have the proper rights, Its a legitimate copy I purchased/

The rights I am talking about is the local administrator right to your MacBook. It depends on the user account and how it was created.

If no "tetherberry" network interface created, it means your Mac is preventing you to modify the network setting. Check your security setting on your Mac to see if it is blocked.

Which version of Mac OS are you running? In version 10.4 (if I remember correctly), one of the OS updates put a lock on Network preference. You will need to go to the "Security" section to un-check that.

I tried looking in the security options.
there is no box to tick or untick with that option...

Im on Version 10.4.11

All the lock logos are unlocked to at bottom right of screen incase got to leave it unlocked and try..

here is a screen shot of my network settings

Judging from your network preference screen shot, where is your Ethernet interface for your Mac?

The interface I guess means to port? My entire logic board has just been replaced as the ethernet port was faulty but is new and in the normal place on a mac book on left side next to where power cord/magnet connects...

I didn't mean its physical location, rather why it is not listed under "Network Status"?

That might be the first problem. If your Mac didn't detect or recognize the ethernet port, the certain network stack files may not load properly by the OS, which could prevent the new port "Tetherberry" to be created.

Did you try re-install the Tether on Mac again?

Remove everything related Tether from your Mac. Main app is under "Application" folder, there maybe couple of supporting file under system/library.... In normal circumstance, by re-install the tether, all the files will be updated.

Also, since you just replaced logical board, it will be a good idea to have your OS re-installed. You can use your current OS disc, just do a "upgrade", or spend $25 to upgrade the OS to current version. This may also help you to clean up any possible corrupted files left on your Mac due to hardware failure before.

Open a Terminal window and run the following command:
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

Then reboot your Mac and then see if Tether shows up in your network connections and is functional.

You need to type the root/administrator password not your login password, this may be what is happening with Tether when you try to install also.

Going to User section of System preference, Click "Login Option", then click "Join..." at bottom of right, then, click "Open Directory Utility", you need to click the lock icon, and supply the your Mac password (assume your account is an administrator user account), then from Edit menu, select "Enable root user...", where you can setup the root password.

I done all that and now rebooted and can't get back into my computer! Its just a blue screen and a spinning wheel trying to do something for the past 15 minutes.

After setting up password below and typing to command it wouldn't let me type a password or anything else. The keyboard functions were locked. Opened up another terminal window but there was no text or anything in the window pasted the command, it didn't do anything so closed everything and rebooted and that's where I am now .

hold power button down for several minutes to force a reboot should get you back in.

Ok great that got me back in !! Tether didn't show up in network though just checked that.

I'm in terminal window again, typed in the command. Then its askin for password which I set as instructed above put now it asks for password and won't let me type in anything. The entire keyboard won't doing anything, not even the space bar works..

I am running out of ideas why your Mac won't allow to add the interface...... it appears to be some service running on the Mac is conflicting what Tether is trying to do. Without further detail about your Mac, it is hard to guessing.

Consider your Mac had the hardware failure before and with the replacement of board, etc. It may not be a bad idea to have a fresh OS install.

Unless Tether tech support have any other suggestion to try.

Let's wait and see :)
