Ok, I have had this for a little over a year. Originally Tetherberry, worked flawlessly, got upgraded or changed when it became just plain old Tether, last week was my first shot to use, never really though about checking it out, figure it would be transparent. but on vacation last week and tried to use it, no go, the tether on the BB says tether is running. But on my laptop, it says, "blackberry not found, please connect it to the PC with a USB cable". I have tried uninsalling, reinstalling, rebooting, conecting via Bluetooth. Nothing, driving me nuts!!! Any and all help appreciated.

Yes, using setupdrv.exe, I have downloaded it several time, and uninstalled several times. My PC definitely sees the balckberry, just not the tether program. I have no problem syncing my blackberry so that tell me that the USB cable is OK and that the issues lies in the tether program. Any other suggestions??

Hey, I think I got it, the blackberry driver was the problem (i hope) I update my OS on the BB and then tried the tether, worked, seems a little clunky right now, but i will mess around with it a bit and see how it goes.

Are you using the setup with the blackberry drivers on laptop? There are two versions of setup programs, one with blackberry drivers and other didn't. If I remembered correctly, the setup with driver is named: setupdrv.exe. Alternatively, you can download the blackberry windows driver file at blackberry web site. You will need the driver file in order for PC to recognize the device when you plugged in.
