I'm having trouble with the tether client on iphone. I start the client on windows and it says "Start Tether on your iphone" and then I start tether on the iphone and after checking registration its stuck at "waiting for connection".
iphone tether client wont connect
Sorry to report the sequencing didn't work. Its still stuck at 'waiting for connection' on the iphone and 'start tether on your iphone' at the PC.
Some other data points in case you need it:
1. the PC is windows xp
2. PC does 'see' the iphone (I get the pop up asking if it should open a folder to show the photo content).
3. attempted to remove and reinstall itunes and/or tether - no change in status
4. I gather the tether program on the iphone is functional - it does whatever it does to verify registration. I'm assuming its contacting your severs to verify so the data connection must be there.
What version of iTunes is currently running on your PC?
I'm running Windows 7 (via Bootcamp on Mac Mini)
Have iPhone 3GS running ver 5.1 0n At&T
Am I supposed to connect phone to computer via wi-fi or use the cable???
Looks like wifi SSIDs are OK, even says connected occasionally but no data is transmitted.
Also one of my iPhones can login to Tether.com/web but the othe gets a blank screen when you click on login???
Hello,
Did you go to Settings => Wifi and connect both your phones to your Ad-Hocc network after creating it?
Yes I did.
I finally got the settings right and was able to get the tether.com/web URL the saved their app for future hookups.
It seems my problem was not starting things in the proper order:
On the computer: click on tether, select the SSID, start IE, then
On the iPhone: select the SSID, click on the app
The screen shows first connecting to an SSID with no internet access, then the tether program identifies me and another SSID opens with internet access.
A bit slow with 3G but it works!
For speed issue please ensure that you have no other program on phone or pc consuming the bandwidth.

Could you start Tether on the PC then on the Iphone. Then plug your iPhone into your PC?
These would be the steps to start Tether.
