Illegal Channel

I downloaded the free trial and had instant success and was loving it - ready to buy it. Then is started failing on me. When I try to connect on my BB I get the following message (as best as I can tell because it crashes as soon as the text appears.)

USB Thread Failing
Java.IOException Illegal channel
USB thread dead

I've briefly read some of the threads that talk about removing and re-installing and that looks like a lot of work for a product that should be able to just install and go. Not sure I want to buy it if I have to go through all that.

Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have bought the application, and have not had any problems after I figured out myself how to get it installed. Now I have been using it for about 2 weeks and haven't had any problems but now it says connected, please connect usb cable to computer, and when I do, it says really fast this message then disappears, i had to pull it up 5 times just so I could read the message and write it down......
Connected to P.C.
usb thread i.o. IO Exception
illegal channel
usb thread dead
Yeah...this is really upsetting me too, they advertised how the people that did the testing of the application loved it, you would think they would work all the quirks out before selling it for $50.00 a pop, luckily I got mine at the half off discount, but it still is disappointing that this app has so many issues, I'm on disability, so I thought this would save me money, but it seems its just going to be a big hassle unless they fix it!

I'm having the same message error during the test period.

Does anybody notice that before this message appears, the application crash (because is not responding) and BB OS close it in the hard way?

By the way, I have a BB Pearl 8100, password content enable, keyboard autolock after 1 minute and encrypted content. And you?

I've bought this application few months ago and was refounded for the same problem.

I'd really like that it could be solved to buy it once more.

Best regards.

Okay....is anybody elses working now. After trying all day with no success, its now 1:00 a.m. and its now working, but I don't know if they fixed the issue or me uninstalling from laptop then reinstalling it, then I also uninstalled it from my B.B. then reinstalled it. It took about 20 mins. but then it started working, soooo just want to know if anyone is still having trouble. If they are then they didn't fix it and maybe we do have to uninstall and reinstall. Hope everyone gets bk on, this is a good app to have, especially since there are websites you can't view fully on the b.b. Let me know!

New member, just bought product. 2 hrs into using it without problem, got same message mentioned here. BB 8330 Verizon. And, at same point, Tetherberry websites were blocked on my BB browser by "permission" errors. Had to switch to Opera to access this site.
My educated guess is Verizon caught on to huge data usage increase and messed with phone's Java. Blocking USB and browser from Tetherberry?

According to our engineer this error could relate to poor signal strength or network tower changing. We are looking into it further...

I downloaded the trial, installed it on the mighty BB and instant success! This software is the stuff! I just bought it, and think it is well worth $53. Thanks.

Admin - I have this error constantly on both BB 8330s on VzW with 5 bars signal strength sitting at a desk.

I have your latest version installed on the PC and BBs - it fails at 3000 packets sent and/or received.

Same error message about java.io.exception and USB thread dead. This happens consistently.

Please advise.

I am using a Curve 8330 on Verizon - the device OS version is Verizon's latest official release 4.5.0.138. I have the latest version of Tetherberry installed on both the BB and my Vista Ultimate SP2 PC. and I have OpenDNS addresses set in the TCP/IP settings.

I JUST got the free trial. MacBook core duo with SnowLeopard. BlackBerry Storm on Verizon. Newest version of the operating system. When I open Tetherberry on the storm it says connection made, and tells me to plug it into the computer. When I open Tetherberry on the Mac and plug in the Storm both show a good connection.
When I try to open a browser I see packets sent or uploaded but none received. The browser says Not Connected to the Internet, whether I use Safari, FireFox, or Opera.

I'm all alone here trying to do this. I'm not a super geek, but I can follow directions.

Yes, make sure USB permissions are set to allow on Tether.

A battery pull may also help this issue.
