208.67.220.220
i was having issues with the paid version on vmware fusion and this made it take right off!
Could you Please tell me where to enter those #'s I am trying to fix this. I go to network under control panel > manage network connections > right click on tetherberry local area connection 3 > properties....
Am I on the right track here at all? Sorry, but I need more info and don't know what a DNS settings are or how to find.
in that last window you are in scroll down and click tcp/ip settings then properties, in there at the bottom input these numbers where it says dns.
In control panel (Windows XP) the icon is Network Connections and I cannot find "manage network connections" under it. Also, there is no icon "tetherberry local area connection 3". Any suggestions?
Hey Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just about to give up and request a refund. This helped I'm running now :-) 208.67.222.222

Glad to hear it worked for you.
I think I am going to force this in the newest version of the software since many people seem to be having issues like this at the moment. Not sure why it never showed up in the beta.
All of a sudden I can not connect to the internet.
Woked fine for a week now nothing. Tetherberry launches on computer fine the I launch the app on the phone then computer asks for Blackberry password and once I key it in it says connected. But the internet will not connect.
I did not change anything.
This fix worked for me. Was not receiving any packets. Then added OpenDNS to the the ipv4 and 6 settings and voilla it worked for the first time.
I'm using:
- VZW
- Storm
- Vista
- Macbook Pro (using Bootcamp of course not a vm)
All other posts about unplugging and replugging, rebooting the phone and the computer, order of plugging things in, different VZW coverage areas were not helpful.
I realized it was a DNS error because I could ping outside IP addresses and even connect to a server via remote desktop using IP only. But no Web, email etc.
TB Admins: You should look into DNS problems for some of these other cases. And show people how to tell if they are actually having DNS issues.
All better now for me!
I had the same problem with the latest version on Windows XP and BlackBerry Tour with Verizon. This worked for me as well.
TetherBerry quit working for me this morning.
Fix works great. Where do you guys come up with this stuf?
ok, I have sprints 8350i What do i need to do to resolve this issue cause following those directions don't help for me.
Where do you find a fix or whatever when the thing quits working? Mine will connect at home, but not out on the road. I am a truck driver, and I have not been able to get it to connect here lately.
I was having troubles with it sending packets but not receiving any, so I did what you said and it automatically connected, thanks! Why do we have to change this,I mean they advertised that all we have to do is download the app on our b.b and our computer and we're good to go. So what gives? Why the manual input on I.p.?

Ummmm, yeah I've already bought the app and just recently uninstalled old version and installed new version from info that yall sent via email on updated version. I was still only sending but not receiving packets. I went back to obtain dns server automatically and no change, so I went bk to what the original poster said to do, and it worked. I'm sorry but I think you guys need to stop charging until you get this app right. Its rediculous the amount of posts on here about errors and not being able to connect...jmho
Sorry, you are having problems with our software. A very low percent of our customers do have problems with our software. We have been working hard to resolve known issues with our product. Like all software there are some underlying bugs, take a look at Windows. The income that TetherBerry is generating now is going towards development to fix any issues and to add more features.
If you are not happy we can offer you a refund. Simply email our support team.

If I wanted a refund, believe me I would have asked. Don't get me wrong, I like the app, but there are too many issues with it for you guys to be charging 50 dollars for it. mine was doing fine, then after 2 wks I got an illegal channel error, didn't work for 2 days then worked again for only a day after I reinstalled, then the packets weren't receiving so I had to put the ip in manually like this poster suggested instead of it being on. Auto, and that's the only way it will work so far, won't work anymore the way it was originally installed. So i just think something like this should still be in trial version with a lot of customers still having issues after a month of its release, I mean its not just 100 customers its a lot more which is a big mass when ur charging for your product!!!!!
After my BB Bold completely crashed (had to manually re-load the OS!), I lost all my applications. I reinstalled Tetherberry last week (August 25th?) so I must have had the newest version (at the time). Could not get Internet Explorer or FireFox to access the web on my XP Pro computer. Changing the DNS as this poster suggests did the trick. THANKS!!
Haven't logged on/off to see if I've got to massage it everytime. Didn't have the problem when I originally purchased the app--did I get a buggy version? (Version 1.0.1.0. BBBold 4.7).
Thanks for posting the work-around, hopefully Admin can do a seamless incorporation.
I've had to reinstall after replacing a bad berry and tehter has never worked since. The version I downloaded worked right off the bat and kept working perfectly until...
Both the handheld screen ("Tether is running" and "Registered") and the PC screen "Connected to Blackberry" seem OK but no packets up or down. I agree with whoever said this software shouldn't really be so buggy, especially for the relatively HUGE price of $50. Most apps are $2.99, a few are 5 or 6 bucks.
CAn someone make it more clear where to enter those two numbers mentioned above?

Tether defaults to using OpenDNS, you can try the following DNS servers from google if your having a DNS issue currently.
You would do this on the Tether network adapter on your PC.
Click the Windows Start menu and select run, in the run dialog type without quotes "ncpa.cpl" and hit enter. If you are on Windows 7 or Windows Vista you may simply click the Windows Start menu and type "ncpa.cpl" into the search box and hit enter.
Right click the Tether network adapter and select 'Properties', from the dialog that appears double click the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (Tcp/IPv4)" label and you will be shown a 'Properties' dialog, click "Use the following DNS server addresses" and enter:
Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
Then select OK and try Tether again.
