This product sounds really cool, and I’m sure it is worth the price for the hassle-free connectivity alone. However, I’m a wireless agent and I know that some (if not all) carriers closely monitor data usage patterns to determine if subscribers are using a their phone as a tethered modem without an appropriate tethering plan. I was wondering how TetherBerry circumvents this as its concept implies. Thank you for your time; have a great day, and take care. :)

TetherBerry uses your data plan to make connections to the internet just like any other internet based application running on your phone.

Wow!... thank you for the lightning-quick response! I know you all are swamped with questions right now, probably largely due to the giveaway on BGR (nice promo by the way). I have been a salesperson for many years, and I am thoroughly aware of the level of impatience that ignorant customers can exhibit when they incorrectly assume they are aware of what is involved in implementing a product or service that, ironically enough, they seem to have the need to pay someone to provide. Therefore, please do not feel obligated to respond immediately to my post.

As for my follow-up question:
So your saying that the way TetherBerry uses data on the carriers network "looks" different to the carriers than it would if you just configured your BlackBerry as a dial-up modem?

Thanks.

Yes, the data through TetherBerry looks like requests being made by your built in browser or similar programs.

Hope that helps

Just a quick addition to this post... Seems like there are a lot of us using tether right now that are actually being billed as if we were *not* using data inside the Blackberry browser.
My plan includes unlimited access to internet and email on the Blackberry. However, I'm being billed the full amount of my usage and having to explain my way out of $300 worth of internet usage that I thought would have been okay using tether.
Also, I've disabled the APN in TCP/IP settings, and of course tether won't work anymore. To me, this points to just standard tethering, which is definitely not what I was looking for when I purchased my copy of tether.
For the record, I'm using Storm II 9520 on the 3 network in Australia.

I'm not sure about speed and time outs. Have you googled (downloaded and installed) TCP/IP Optimizer? It tweaks your browser settings and TCP/IP settings to prevent timeouts and related issues depending on what sort of connection you've got.
I've been using tether in a 2G EDGE zone and I've been as impressed as you possibly could be with internet speeds in a 2G zone.
Just wish we could get around this problem of tether needing an APN to operate, rather than just going thru the Blackberry Internet Service included with my rate plan.

so will my cell phone carrier be charging me extra for using tethering? Is there a meter to watch what I use on tethering home page?

When running Tether on your PC you will see a button for History which allows you to see your historical Tether usage.
