I am extremely excited about the latest update to tether because it actually works for me now. I have been trying for months to get it to work with either the BT or USB. After following every possible suggestion given on the forum, I still had no luck. Today I downloaded the latest update, and I'm actually browsing the web using my BB as a BT modem! This is awesome. Thank you.

In case you need to know for any reason, my carrier is Sprint and I am using the BB Curve 8330.

I have been using the BB Curve 8330 on the Sprint network with the previous version without any trouble... Not sure why you were having issues.... Its good that you have been able to get up and working now though....

Glad the 1.1.0.3 is working out, it seems to be solving a lot of issues users of Tether have been having :)

Did you get Tether downloaded or are you still having trouble?

Just updated from 1.1.0.2 to 1.1.0.3 on my Storm2, and currently connected with MacBook Pro via Bluetooth and running the Mac Software Update, with average speed of 970KBS on Verizon network. So far so good.

Will report if I encounter any issues.

Excellent work, Tether!

A quick update, I have spend about 4 hours on the 1.1.0.3 version, with bluetooth connection on MacBook Pro, performed various tasks and accesses on the internet, ranging from large size file downloads, VPN access, etc. All went well without any issues.

I am on Verizon network, so, unable to test APN settings as this version is mainly addresses. But, at least from tethering function point of view, it is well and stable. I will spend more time on PC desktop tomorrow.

As a test I downloaded about 200 Megabytes worth of data consecutively on the 1.1.0.3 update over Bluetooth without a single hiccup, I saw approximately a 50 kbps increase in speed over Bluetooth with the update as well as improved latency (approximately 80 ms lower).

I haven't gotten around to any USB testing yet as most issues seem to be Bluetooth related.

The USB Bluetooth adapter I use is a generic Cambridge CSR I ordered for $1.98 from dealextreme, the PC is an Acer One netbook with Windows 7 Ultimate running the default Microsoft drivers and Bluetooth stack.

To continue my testing, I have spent about two hours with Windows 7 PC, both bluetooth and USB connections. So far, no issue at all.

Since I am on Verizon CDMA network, I had the opportunity during today's test, answered few phone calls, to see if the connection will be resumed after the call. It did! Including one of call lasted for about 5 mins.

Everything looks good from my experiences so far!

For me too! I finally found a location where I couldn't find WiFi and was desperate to find a solution. I hadn't heard about Tether and did a web search yesterday. After downloading and installing, it fired-up right away and hasn't failed me yet. Works like a charm. For me this is the "killer app". I've been running it about about 1480kbps steady w/o much drop in throughput. Perhaps the team at Tether can create a new compression algorithm that can get Tether to about 1-2 mbps. For now, though, I'm ok with this. BTW, I'm on an AT&T 3G network and did not need to use my APN settings.

That is excellent speed over Tether, thanks for posting your results.

1480 kilobits per second = 1.4 megabits per second
