So after tinkering with different combinations of installs and uninstalls, I've finally figured it out. I opened up Network Connections to ensure that my other connections were disabled, and looked at the Tetherberry connection, which said the network cable was unplugged. As I opened Tetherberry, I watched the Tetherberry network connection to see if anything fishy happened. Well once the app opened, the "network cable disconnected" turned into "disabled." So from there I decided it was not a DM problem or a Tetherberry install problem, but strictly a driver problem. I uninstalled Tetherberry, uninstalled DM 4.7 and then installed the BB drivers first from here BB DRIVERS
and then re-installed Tetherberry. I proceeded to open Tetherberry and it worked like magic. Then to finalize and make sure, I installed DM 4.7 and all is good!!!

In summary:

Uninstall everything(PC only not on phone.) This included anything associated with DM(DM, BB drivers, Tetherberry.) Also, ensure you have checked the box for removing user settings in the BB DM uninstall.

Install the drivers first found in the link above.

Install Tetherberry.

Open Tetherberry to ensure it works(disable all other network connections.)

Install DM 4.7 and reboot.

Smile with delight :)

Shout out to Grayzweb from Crackberry, we worked together for most of the day back and forth with ideas on how to fix this error.

Local Area Connections NOT working for me either. First did not work, then did, then didn't again this morning. Now, I have had to remove/reinstall TB and the connection, and remove the DM 4.7 (because there was NOTHING in there: it was just an icon!). I have reinstalled 4.6

Removed/Unistalled everything I can think of to start over!

And am currently D/Ling the BB Drivers as you suggest above (but it will take some time, as my current internet service is the most dial-up dinosaur left out there!).

So, I will give your suggestions a try after the download of the drivers, and see what works and what doesn't.

... and reserve my disappointment in the Purchased TB Program vs. the Beta, which worked/connected fine. (Although, I WAS on a different PC for the BETA test - but very similar operating/setup PC's).

I would appreciate ANY suggestions you might offer:

I am very frustrated with this whole process. I haven't even got the beta to work. I purchased the new program. came up with these problems. reinstalled deleted and whatever the heck else i'm supposed to do, still the pointer error. Maybe a phone call would be better?

Just eager to get this working!

I have tryed everything but nothing seems to work. I have purchased the program, and installed it on my bb Curve 8900, I was able to establish a connection with my service provider, But my problem is still the invalid pointer.
I use vista 32bit Vaio VGN-Z12MN
I have uninstalled and reinstalled every possible way.
Please let me know what else could I do.

Thanks for the hard work.
I did exactly what you explained.

I uninstalled everything, then re-installed the drivers, followed by Tetherberry. Didn't work. Took a chance and re-installed the drivers again.... IT WORKED!!!

Some speed on this thing. Wow.

Thanks again.
