Does anyone know of an alternate port to send out-going email via Earthlink? When connected with Tether (Verizon) I can receive inbound email but cannot connect to send outbound using standard port 25.
Email works find both directions with other connections. It's only when using Tether that I cannot send outbound email.
Thanks. I just tried 587 and that failes in the same way.
It would help me to find out if there is at least one person successfully accessing earthlink pop3/smtp with tether/verizon. As it is, I cannot tell if it's tether or verizon that is preventing outbound email.

Another thing you can try doing as well is reaching out to Earthlink to find out if they use a different SMTP port number. If 587 does not work, reaching out to your carrier will as they will be able to provide the correct SMTP port number.
I got it to work.
SOLUTION:
Set port to 465, and select SSL for security. I didn't setup a username and password.
