Tether for the Droid X
I am due for a new every two phone on August 9, 2010 and I am going to get the Droid X. I hope that in is released on July 15, 2010 with Froyo (android 2.2). Google must address OS fragmentation in the many Android based smartphones. I believe if there is a UI overlay, integration of a new version of Android takes time to test all the relationships.
Being a Blackberry RIM Storm 9530 user, I am more than ready to make the switch. The 9530 has been a steady phone which lacks an adequate browser and is difficult to type on and has a crappy dictionary. In short, it has never been that good a phone since inception and now is far behind Android and iPhone technology.
I do like Tether and always use tethering to connect my laptop whenever I travel, or when WiFi is unavailable.
I hope to use Tether's Android software when it is released. I believe Froyo has a tethering option which may make Tether's offering unnecessary. I do not wish to pay Verizon $20/ month to make my phone a hotspot when I can get it for free.
Tether's Android software plans are as clear as mud. I cannot understand if the beta exists or how you get it. I assume that Tether will eventually complete a tethering product worthy of their name for Android. When, I do not know.
