"Could not connect to network adapter"

I updated to the new 'improved' version today, and am unable to connect to the internet through my blackberry (USB only, no bluetooth). I've tried uninstalling desktop manager (for Windows XP) before installing the new PC driver, but no success. I've tried with and without wifi disabled on my laptop. Every time I run the tether client on my PC, I get an "Could not connect to network adapter" error message. Is there something simple I'm missing? What compelling advantages does this new version offer (for the people who can get it to work) to make it worth all of this trouble?

I'm having the same problem. Win7 64, BB 8900 with most recent official Tmo release and most recent BDM. Every tme I start Tether I get could not connect to network adapter even though it's running fine on the phone. Any help would be appreciated, this is pretty frustrating because "tetherberry" worked fine for me before.

More Information: I've spent the last hour uninstalling and reinstalling and trying things in different combinations (lesson learned: the TetherBerry service has to be stopped manually even after it's supposedly been uninstalled).

No matter what, when I get to the point in the Tether installation where it tells me 'The Tether network adapter is being installed' it immediately gives me the error 'Failed to install the driver'. What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this? I start a business trip tomorrow, and desperately need to fix this. How do I revert to the old Tetherberry setup? At least that worked.

uninstall it, restart and then try this http://www.tetherberry.com/downloads/beta/setup.exe

I uninstalled tether on my computer, and reinstalled tetherberry with that link above and now it works. Thanks for the help. I left tether on the blackberry though and it's still running so this will work for me too as I'm going away next week myself. This will be good until I can figure out how to get tether to work on the pc.

snrist,

Thanks for your help, but I'm still having the same problem. It gets to the 'The TetherBerry network adapter is being installed' and fails.

I don't have internet where I live right now and I installed tetherberry on both my comp and blackberry before I lost internet acess on my comp. For some reason it doesn't recognize tether on my comp as being installed and it just leaves me with the tether installer on my desktop. Any help?

Success! I was able to find a thread about somebody with a similar problem here.

Basically, I had to recreate the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce, then manually install the driver as described in the thread.

I read what was in the other thread...

"In case anyone else runs into this issue, the problem seemed to be caused by having the following key missing from the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce "

The problem is that I don't know what I have to do now. Can someone please explain this to someone who has no experience with REGEDIT or registry keys? I'm still having the "Cannot find network adapter" error come up.

can you contact me directly through this forum? I'd like to try this solution on your machine just to confirm that it does indeed fix the problem.

Wow... I don't even remember posting that.

I'll need to add that check in the installer and auto create the key if it's not there.

Ok, back to starting board....
Did the 'link' mentioned above, added the register key suggested, Tether 'seemed' to be working.
Then, I received a fatal 'blue' screen on laptop and auto shut down

Have had some updates to download, and restart, Tether then reconnects but after hybernating, I have to re-install the setup everytime.

Help, please

For me all i needed to do was go to network connections - go to the tether connection. There I found that the tether connection had been disabled. I enabled it and then tether would start up without an issue. I don't know how it became disabled.
