Tether’s Seattle Studio is seeking a Freelance Senior Production Designer to help for 3 – 6 months, with possibility of temp to hire.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent work experience
  • 6-8 years experience working in a professional design environment as a production artist or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Expert knowledge of print production techniques including printing, paper and materials
  • Hands on e-pro with ability to jump into design when needed
  • Experience managing people
  • Expert knowledge in proof evaluation and press checks, including on-the-spot problem solving
  • Professional knowledge of vendor supervision/relations
  • Brand asset and file structure management
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with focus both on the big picture as well as the details
  • Bonus if you have digital chops and can execute digital production files for all projects
  • Ability to integrate feedback and direction from creative directors and other senior team members, and clearly communicate to team
  • Professional knowledge of branding, concepts, layouts, typography, and color
  • Professional knowledge of identity and brand development, single and multi-page printed materials, environmental design, packaging, on-screen presentations, information and advertising
  • Expert knowledge of graphic design applications including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Working knowledge of Keynote, PowerPoint and Word

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the production phase of multiple small and large-scale projects
  • Adhere to established schedules and budgets and continually work within agreed upon parameters, alerting the project owner and team in advance when issues arise
  • Manage the technical integrity of all files – functionality, layers, colors, asset quality and version control
  • Support production designers and vendors throughout projects to ensure efficient and accurate production on all projects
  • Anticipate problems and opportunities and bring them to the attention of the design team and the project manager
  • Review creative with the project owner during appropriate stages of the design and production process
  • Consistently proof your own work for accuracy and quality

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to estimate, schedule and track incoming work when appropriate
  • Work closely with design team to complete comps, build thumbnails, prepare presentation materials, and full mechanical files
  • Work with your creative teams to continually educate and elevate the level of design and production by initiating dialogue and constructive critique
  • Continually work to improve your skills in production, team management, organization and communication in both verbal and written forms
  • Always arrive prepared and on time to meetings
