Print Production Manager – Freelance/part-time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in production design or equivalent work experience

• 8+ years of experience working in a professional design environment as a print production manager or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Experience managing and sourcing production resources and collaborating with various internal teams including Designers, Account Managers and Creative Directors

• Ability to integrate feedback and direction from Creative Directors and other senior leadership, and clearly communicate to team

• Professional experience managing vendors and external relationships

• Robust rolodex to call on for varied and innovative projects

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with focus both on the big picture as well as the details

• Ability to create and manage complex schedules, and to forecast hours to complete tasks

• Excel at offering suggestions and ideas to maintain the creative/design intent while mitigating problems

• Ability to execute digital production files for all projects

• Expert knowledge of print production techniques including printing, paper and materials, brand asset and file structure management

• Solid knowledge in proof evaluation and press checks, including on-the-spot problem solving

• Professional knowledge of branding, concepts, layouts, typography, and color

• Professional knowledge of identity and brand development, single and multi-page printed materials, environmental design, packaging, on-screen presentations, information, and advertising

• Expert knowledge of graphic design applications including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Working knowledge of Keynote, PowerPoint and Word

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Able to solve and inspire solutions to technical and production challenges in innovative ways, driving the improvement of processes

• Support the production phase of multiple small and large-scale projects

• Adhere to established schedules and budgets and continually work within agreed upon parameters, alerting the project owner and team in advance when issues arise

• Ensure technical integrity of all files – functionality, layers, colors, asset quality and version control

• Anticipate problems and opportunities and bring them to the attention of the design team and the account manager

• Consistently proof your own work for accuracy and quality
