Okay, thanks to the developers working on a great app like this.

I downloaded the app to my PC and to my BB.

Running:

Windows Vista 64 bit

BB Storm 9530 with .109 leaked OS

Verizon Wireless (no APN settings to change for this carrier if I understand correctly.)

DM 4.7.0.32

I installed the app to my PC first, then to my phone. I went in and disabled my other network connections. I started the app on the PC, then on the Phone. The first thing I see is an error dialog box saying "Invalid Pointer".

I see the TetherBerry App display, but there are no packets incrementing in either direction, and the status says "Waiting for BlackBerry".

I then get another error dialog box that says "Failed to communicate with the BlackBerry"

Please let me know if I missed anything with the install, or if you need any other info to troubleshoot this.

If you are seeing an Invalid Pointer error, it means your BlackBerry Desktop Manager isn't the latest version.

I am running Blackberry Desktop Manager Version 4.7.0.32 on Windows 7 32 bit, and I get the Invalid Pointer error along with the other errors mentioned in the original post.

Any advice?

Admin actually meant to download and install the newest "BlackBerry USB and Modem Drivers" from the RIM site. Can you give this a try and see if it helps out?

Thanks

I do have the latest drivers. To make sure, I went to RIM and downloaded the one they have there. When I attempted to install them, I received a message telling me that the drivers I have are newer then the ones I had downloaded.

Thank you.

I'm seeing the same problem with mine. I also have the leaked 109 BB OS. I wonder if that is the culprit although it wouldn't make a lot of sense because the error occurs on the PC and doesn't look like it even tries to communicate with the BB.

I'm running Win Vista SP1 and the latest versions of RIM desktop and drivers also.

Is anyone else seeing this on the Storm with a different version of the OS?

Thanks

Can you guys verify that there is a BbDevMgr.exe in the c:\program files\common files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers folder?

If it is there, can you right click on it and choose properties. When that loads select the Version tab and tell me what version it is?

Thanks

TRY THIS.....
If you are on Verizon and have downloaded it both to the laptop and bberry, you can close bbmanager disconect your laptop from the internet and try this..... click the tetherberry icon on your computer when the box comes up it should say something like blackberry not connected or connect bberry, connect the bberry if it isnt already go to tetherberry on the bberry and start the program. Within a minute you should start seeing the numbers change and the red x on the laptop gone and it should work.

this works.

You have to have your usb cable UNPLUGGED when you start the desktop app. then plug in the BB. Then start the BB app. this has 100% success rate w/ me so far. stopping and starting the whole process w/out disconnecting the usb has only worked a few times for me.

Thank you my friend. It works when I keep the usb cable unplugged when I load the program on my pc. Thank you so much.

The internet seems to be working pretty good so far.

This works for me.

Thanks ikishk.

Admin - Tetherberry team, this is an acceptable work-around, but I don't think it is an acceptable solution. Can you please look in to this as a BUG and fix for a future release please?

NOOP... not for me
Unfortunately this method does not work out for me.
Still the same error messages: invalid pointer.

This message will not disappear in minutes. Several seconds after I clicked the OK (OK??) button, the next errror message pops up: "Failed to communicate with the blackberry"
I have waited several minutes, no statuschange. After clicking OK, the application closes.

Hope you can help me out,
Kind regards.

I'm going to need to get one of you guys to let me remote desktop to your computer so that I can try and resolve this issue. Could you click on my account name (shankinson) and then click the contact link?

Thanks

This application is just not working for me. During install I keep getting an error message that says that I have a newer version of Blackberry Desktop Manager installed. When the install finishes and I open the application on the PC, I get the point error message. I really wanted to get this thing to work, but it turned out be a waste of my time.

Which operating system are you using? I noticed on my vista machine it can take up to 30 seconds before it obtains an IP. The IP should be 192.168.25.100 when it gets one.

I tried to follow one of the other suggestions to get this to work.. suggestion to remove the network driver and reinstall.. went to the setup link provided and its no longer available.

I guess this ends my testing..

I was never able to get this to work !!!

Can you uninstall from the PC and then check the Device Manager to make sure the TetherBerry network adapter got removed. If not, right click on it and uninstall it there. Once that is finished, try running the installer again.

Thanks

you can tru to close your DM before you open tetherberry on your pc, then then open tetherberry on pc, conect bb to pc when asked to and open tetherberry on bb when asked by pc. this is the only way it works on my bb, but not shure what os i am running.
