Based on what i have read here in the forums, I understand there is development underway to support tethering over bluetooth. This would definately be a nice feature. I am currently on the Sprint network and tethering was available for me as well as many others until the end of September. No special software was needed, just a simple DUN connection, using either a usb cable or by bluetooth. Sprint put an end to this. Fortunately, there is third party software available to allow tethering. I have tried a few of the trial versions and find Tetherberry to be the best (most stable & fastest). The other 2 I tried supported bluetooth connections, until I updated to the latest OS 4.5.175. I may be wrong, but I believe Sprint somehow disbled DUN over bluetooth, unless you used their proprietary settings, by purchasing their PAM plan. I just thought I would mention this, knowing that Tetherberry is working on bluetooth support. Unfortunately my trial version of tetherberry has expired, and I am waiting for it to go on sale again, I am currently unemployed, due to the slow economy.
Bluetooth Tethering
Thanks bprudent, I surely hope things pick up! And, yes tethering over bluetooth does allow one to tether without the use of a usb cable. It's kinda nice not having to plug it in anytime you want to tether. I missed that one day sale by one day, I saw it the next morning. Oh well, I'm sure it will go on sale again sometime!
The latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager offers an IP Modem button - "Set up your BB decice as a wireless IP Modem for internet access". If the BB is connected with Bluetooth then maybe this is the solution.
This is possibly also a free alternate to TB !
As has been found, this new IP modem feature on those who's carrier doesn't disable it, is merely supporting carrier approved PAM.
At least, that's what sprint is doing. It's not a workaround.
Btw, I love my tetherberry now that I've gotten off my 8350i.
Thanks!
Our next release will have Bluetooth in it. I tried it the other night. Pretty slick :)

I'm sure things will pick up soon, job wise, for you. Thanks for this post, this sounds interesting. I don't know much about the bluetooth tethering. Will this allow tethering without using the usb cable but rather completely through bluetooth???
By the way, I hope you caught the sale the other day. :o)
