I installed Tether on both, have Bluetooth enabled and the BB is showing in the computer and the computer is showing on the BB. However the BB is not showing in the Networking Center so I cannot access the web. I initlally had a problem with Bluetooth Peripheral Devices not being installed but resolved that with some online assistance so that error code is gone. Not sure what to do and about to leave for a weeklong business trip. Help??? No phone support for Tether so who do I call?
BB & Netbook find each other but no internet access, Tether active on both, HELP!
*edited out*
Accidentally posted in the wrong thread, sorry about that.
I don't get any onscreen instructions with Tether. When I click on the icon it says the program is already running. Computer shows BB icon and that they are connected with bluetooth. Don't have USB cable with me. Tether on computer just says "starting inquiry" and never goes any further. Frustrating! And no one to call...just emails back and forth.
im kinda having this problem. My netbook and BB acknowledge each other. No internet access. i am however recieving and sending packets. new at this thing. just cannot get onto net.
Sure would be less hassle if they had a tech phone # to call. I'm about to give up and ask for a refund. I just wish I could get it to work! Can't find any detailed instructions and the info I got just said install Tether on each device (done), activate Bluetooth on each device (done)and then "follow the onscreen instructions" however I don't get any to follow. I recently had great phone tech support for my Sony Reader, a small glitch that was resolved quickly. Evidently I am facing innumerable emails and possibly no resolution.....Tether's tech folks are emailing me but it takes a long time to go back and forth by email especially since it can be day between each email.
I understand you have enabled Bluetooth on both your PC and BlackBerry, but have you paired them together?
From another post of mine, it goes through the steps of deleting and re-pairing your phone to the PC.
Click the little bluetooth button in the system tray, select "Show Bluetooth Devices", now right click the connection to your phone and choose delete.
Let it delete (it takes a few seconds), now close the window, click the bluetooth icon in the system tray again, choose "Open Settings", now check the box that says "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer" and hit the "Apply" button.
Now on your phone go into the "Manage Connections" screen (on a BB Pearl) and choose "Setup Bluetooth" then choose "Search for devices from here" and hit "OK", a box will pop open with your computers hostname, choose OK, enter ANY numbers like "1232" or "3333" etc.
Now the computer will pop open a message box where you can enter the same number you just entered into the phone.
Now open Tether on the phone and PC, try and get a bluetooth connection. The phone will ask if you want to allow this connection, choose yes.
Here is a summary to what happened when I followed your instructions: I deleted BB from the netbook; clicked on the bluetooth icon in the system tray: the "allow a device to connect" is greyed out and when I click on Open Settings nothing happens. I went to Control Panel: Hardware & Sound: Devices & Printers, nothing is there. I went to Network Connections, Bluetooth, it says:
Service Name (also Service Description):
Personal Ad Hoc User Service. I then go to BB as instructed, Manage Connections, Setup Bluetooth, Search, Box requesting # pops up, enter #, then get "waiting for PC". Nothing happens on PC. I have had both units showing they were paired however then nothing happens with Tether. I did use a USB cable to connect the two today for the first time and it worked fine. Support from Tether emailed that bluetooth only works with Microsoft and Widcomm Bluetooth stacks, how do I tell if I have those on my Asus 1005PE?
Also was wondering if Trend Micro might be causing the problem if the stacks are the right type.
What is your PC operating system?
Windows 7 Starter Edition; Asus Eee 1005PE netbook
Click the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select "Open Settings", from the dialog that pops up choose the "Hardware" tab. What does it say here? Double click each item and check the "Driver" tab, we want to see "Microsoft" for the Bluetooth radio and enumerator.
Under Hardware it says:
BT-270
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Under BT-270's Driver tab, the Driver Provider is Broadcom, the signal is Microsoft Windows...., the driver provider under the other is Microsoft.
I believe Broadcom is fine, try and pair the devices the other way around.
Start from the PC and pair the phone, you will have to go into the BlackBerry "Setup Bluetooth" option and click on the "Allow another device to find me" then on the PC click Add Device from the Bluetooth icon in the system tray.
I'm sorry if the instructions are lacking, I'm not around a PC currently.
Actually I have had the pairing work fine sometimes, it's just that it won't go online...something with Tether is amiss. There are no onscreen Tether instructions to follow either. Works fine with USB cable.
Its all about the pairing for Bluetooth, the only "onscreen instructions" for Tether is to select USB or Bluetooth from the popup dialog. I think this is what Patrick was referring to earlier.
If you can send a file from the PC to the BlackBerry or vice versa then your properly paired, unless you can do this your not.

Not sure why you're in the Networking Center. You need to run Tether on your BlackBerry and on your PC. Select Bluetooth on both and follow the onscreen instructions.
Make sure you're device is paired before and that Bluetooth is enabled on your BlackBerry.
