Do you guys have any suggestions?
Any suggestions?
We are familiar with June Fabrics. Hoping we can meet with a price that satisfies everyone.
I agree that PDANet is a great product I used it for years with both my Palm and WinMo devices. SO far this product works well, I'm just waiting for a 64 bit version so that i don't have to run it from a VM.
Allow the connection through Bluetooth as well as USB.
This will be added in the near future as it is something that a lot of people want.
I need to get a Bluetooth dongle before I can build it since I have no Bluetooth capability at the moment.
I'll buy one and ship it to you if it means you can/will start development on it! I desperately want this!
Are you purposefully disabling the support forum?
My apologies, man! Forgot to enable users to create new topics. Sorry again!
I just downloaded the new update and like all the other versions it works great! I just have 1 recommendation and that is to email all the Beta Testers when you guys start accepting orders for the pay version as a reminder. Great Product! Thanks
We will definitely do that :)
When it is available for purchase, if I purchase the windows version, while you're building the mac version, will I need to purchase a separate mac version upon its release? or is it a fixed price across all platforms?
The license will be specific to your BlackBerry, so as long as you have one BlackBerry you can use it on as many computers as you like.
I am sure all of us beta testers would not mind beta testing the online purchase before everyone else :)
Don't worry, we will let you test it out first!
System Tray Icon
Someone else on Crackberry also recommended this, so I can't really take credit for it, but
It'd be awesome if the PC client program would minimize to the system tray
Good suggestion.
simply use AllToTray for now.. thats what i do
I think once released and license purchased, I think when you log into the app the next time after an update comes out. That it gives you a heads up that there is a newer version for download. Would be a nice added touch
I have also been thinking about a reverse of this.
Since the Storm does not have WiFi, how about an app that lets you connect via USB or Bluetooth, Bluetooth preferred, that would allow the Storm to use your home internet connection to let you surf or download on the Storm.
I know Slacker and PodTrapper have this type of setup, but not sure it could be done for all Internet connections like Web and Download.
But not disabling the service provider, so that we can continue to get business mail coming in while working.
Two suggestions:
First, can you make it so that we can go out to the internet via BES? I like to keep my business private from my phone company. I am concerned that Tetherberry may be connecting to a single point on the internet which can be backtracked.
Second, it would be nice if we could block certain programs or addresses in Tetherberry from connecting to the net automatically. For example, I don't want Windows doing a 100 meg upgrade while I am tethered. Being able to tell Tetherberry to not connect to update.microsoft.com would seem like an easy fix.
Great program and way faster and easier to use than your competition (the guys with a dorsal fin). When I checked my connection, however, I saw that I was connected to a ISP I never heard of which makes me think we are all connecting to a VPN type node some place and that might make the providers spot the connection rather easily and call us all abusers. This was the source of my BES suggestion.
Try turning off automatic updates in Windows, then you should be good to go, no programming necessary :)
I plan on buying a Storm and I am looking for a complete solution to tethering and charging. I am not sure how the Tetherberry works but I assume when you are tethered to a laptop you cannot also be charging the battery, That was the way it worked for my ATT Samsung Synch. There are combo chargers you can buy that will charge a battery while still providing charge to operate the phone. Can the Tetherberry function be married to the charging function, since battery life is so much a part of the online process? All it would involve is a cradle.
You may be able to do this already, but I'd love to be able to tether when my BB is connected to wifi. I'm flying to Europe on a wifi enabled plane next month. A large part of this flight is day light. I'm going to pop for wifi, but only want to pop once (my BB or my notebook, not both). I'd love to pay the fee on my BB because it will be out a larger part of the trip and split the connection with my notebook as needed).
I had the same story in Santa Fe last month. My carrier's signal in downtown Santa Fe stinks, but the hotel was wired. I would have loved to buy one connection for both devices.
I agree with other posts - being able to route it through your own internet connection would be much better than everyone having to go through tetherberry's servers - and cheaper for you. You could maybe have the option to use either (for those who have slow internet at home, too). The client that facilitates access (like a proxy) can "call home" to tetherberry to verify ownership, but other than that, you won't have any huge load on your servers.
You should have bluetooth support for the iPod touch that would be amazing
Several things I would love to see:
1. Bluetooth Support
2. GPS data support
3. Tetherberry is always running (in BT mode) on the BlackBerry and when you launch it on the laptop it starts pushing data. That would allow me to leave the phone in my pocket and just start up my laptop for all those million times I want to check something really quickly.
4. Version information and update notifications
5. More stability for CDMA when incoming phone / SMS kills the connection
Tetherberry works great when it is up and running. I am using Snow Leopard on a Macbook Pro, and also version 5.0.230 on my Blackberry Storm. It takes several attempts to get it working: a series of opening the Tetherberry apps on the computer AND Blackberry side, plugging in and unplugging.
SUGGESTIONS:
Tetherberry is such a little app! Instead of a full application in the dock, why not make it a toolbar item in the top right for Mac? And give it a system preferences panel.
For example:

Otherwise, great job on such a useful app. I've never had faster tethering speeds with verizon than the data connection tetherberry pulls from.
Thanks!

new user 2010 with current version 1.1 - works fine but had to work around challenges of trial versus Registered Version on BB. Some bumps with XP install and the network adapter config.
Recommend finer debugging of hardware configs so config and install issues do not surface and demoralize the new Prospect User.
Not everyone has patience of Job to work through issues and sqeaky wheel makes a lot of noise in the Market place blogs
I would like to see a default setting for USB. It would save some time for some of us who only use USB or Bluetooth, since we won't have to select it everytime we start up. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Thanks for the suggestion guys!
I know I should understand this but I am new still in my trial & I am trying to connect android to ipad via bluetooth. Tether says waiting for usb with no bluetooth option. ideas?
Sorry Tether currently does not support the Ipad.
Could you please make bluetooth option avialable for Android, I currently use a bb but will be going to Android Pro. On my comp (a dell) the bluetooth will pair to the BB but will not allow tether to connect which is a known problem with dell comps. By switching to android I'd hope to be able to resolve this problem and connect via bluetooth which is not yet available for android. Thank you
Tether is looking into adding this feature in the near furture.
I would love to see an ipad app!

You might want to take a look at the product from June Fabrics (junefabrics.com) called PDANet. I have used it for years with absolute success, but they do not have a BB version, and I have become addicted to the Storm; so was glad to see what you are doing. And the price for PDANet is reasonable too. Hopefully you can stay at that level or less, and I will definintely be a buyer.
